Background:
Solar Designer was developed as an educational tool for use by undergraduate
students in architecture as well as practicing architects to analyse actual shading
situations.
It is distributed free of charge and may be freely further distributed provided that it is
not altered in any way, and that redistribution is free of charge.
Features:
Easy analysis of most window and shading configurations
Any location and time of year
Once the window and shading geometry is entered the user can step through the day while
observing the movement of the sunlit patch
Calculation of solar energy ingress is carried out
Energy figures can in turn be related to daylighting lux levels
